"Claimed to have married Charles Dove, Lived with a Lamb & Woodrow Carr who murdered her in DC"... that quote you sent me is about my great grandmother Elva Litha Dove. My father was 7 years old when she was murdered. She was in the living room of their home in DC, all of her grandchildren (including my father) were in the room with her. The story goes that she was standing in front of a mirror curling her hair when Mr. Carr came into the house, walked directly over to her and stabbed her repeatedly.
Elva and Mr. Carr had a 3 year old son, Walter who was taken by child protective services after that. As of a few years ago he was living in West Virginia. Elva had 11 children total and many of them had different fathers (most of whom she was not married to). My grandmother's fathers name is Albert Dove. Her brother Kirby had a father by the last name of Lamb. I have yet to figure out who the fathers of the other children are, I will ask my grandmother and see if she can remember. Incidently, Vernie was also killed in Washington, DC she was hit by a car. 619 |
